Fresh plaster, chalking, a dark colour going light — each adds real labour, and none of them is visible from a form.
It cannot find the damp
A damp patch is a different job with a different price. We survey it before we quote it, and we say when it is not our problem to fix.

Because the number would be wrong. The price of a paint job is set by paintable area, the state of the existing surface, whether the home is furnished, and how many doors and grills there are. None of that is knowable from a call, and a quote that ignores it becomes a bigger number later — which is the complaint people have about painters in the first place.
Yes. The estimate covers paint, primer, putty and labour. Doors, grills and gates are priced per item and are not included, and damp treatment is surveyed and quoted separately.
Mostly the paint and the preparation. An economy emulsion on a sound wall and a premium washable finish on a wall that needs filling and sanding are close to double each other, and both are legitimate jobs. Your quotation shows which one you are buying.
No. On a quoted job you pay an advance when you accept the quotation and the balance when the work is done. Each instalment appears in your order with its own Pay button, and nothing is charged automatically.
